How would you define cooperation? Is it one person’s vision, plan or task for all to execute as directed? Is it open to feedback and revision? Is it a blank slate for the team to contribute? Do you consider experienced team members for risks and foresight based on past experiences? Do you consider newer ideas to be tried out?

Cooperation, as defined by Dictionary.com, is an act or instance of working or acting together for a common purpose or benefit. It doesn’t necessarily mean how you arrive at that common purpose or benefit but that all have the same end goal.

Having working on many projects, as a leader and a participant, I have found the most successful projects were ones which included cooperation in the trek to the end goal AND including a variety of points of views, leveraging experienced folks to help identify risks and alternative approaches as well as bringing new ideas that may reflect new techniques. This well-rounded cooperation ensured inclusion, frequently mitigated future risks and built team morale by having a voice.

What ideas would you add to help elevate the cooperative environment? Let’s connect!
